Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 with the simple idea of a day that encourages people to do good. It is always the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. After you have spent time doing your holiday shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, nonprofit organizations ask that you consider giving back on Giving Tuesday. The movement started on social media and encourages people to share their #unselfies (unselfish selfies) promoting the charities whose work they support. The global movement unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

Especially this year, nonprofits need your support. The Celebration Foundation has been working to continue our programming in this post-pandemic world. Our Celebration Lifelong program, which is an adult enriching educational program, has smoothly transitioned from offering classes at Town Hall to offering classes via Zoom. The program, run with the assistance of many dedicated volunteers, has kept many adults engaged and entertained during this time, as well as fulfilled socialization needs. Our Thriving In Place program, which helps seniors and the disabled remain in their homes leading enriching lives, has been delivering Tuesday Treats and Friday doormat delivery lunches to members. We have also been offering weekly virtual yoga, daily virtual BINGO, weekly virtual coffee chats, virtual trivia and games, and “Pass the Puzzle,” which has allowed members to share puzzles with each other. Our Learning without Hunger program has continued to provide food to low income families in Osceola County while also adopting two additional schools that we provide food for their students who are from low income families. Our Concert Series has brought virtual concerts into people’s homes. Our Serious About Science (SAS) program brought virtual instructional videos for at-home fun science activities for kids to keep busy during quarantine and over the summer. Instead of gathering in person to celebrate with our scholarship recipients, we gifted them a yard sign congratulating them on their hard work and their achievement of getting in to college. They then sent us their selfies with the sign.

Giving Tuesday this year is on December 1st. The Celebration Foundation is asking for our community to come together on this day to make a difference in our local community. If you support our mission of building better community through the arts, culture, and education, we ask that you consider making a gift to the Celebration Foundation by donating online at or by calling our office at 407-566-1234 or stopping by/mailing a check to our office at 610 Sycamore Street, Suite 110 in Celebration.

The Celebration Foundation is incredibly grateful for all of our supporters. Thank you for helping us build better community, together. If you are not already following us, please follow the Celebration Foundation on Facebook and Instagram to see the work that you are helping us do in our community.
