The Celebration Foundation Concert Series brings some of the finest classical and traditional music organizations to Celebration. The Vienna Boys Choir, Branford Marsalis Quartet, and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra have performed in the past two years.
The Foundation presents six concerts between December and April. This year, we will highlight the jazz age with concerts from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra with Jeff Rupert featuring the music of one of the most iconic figures in jazz – Duke Ellington. Another concert will feature Michael Andrew and the Atomic Big Band. Michael Andrew was the bandleader of the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center and will be playing the music of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and others.
American music sprung from two traditions – jazz and Appalachian music. This year, representing the Appalachian or country music tradition will be one of the foremost bluegrass bands in America – Balsam Range from North Carolina. They have twice been named the entertainer of the year by the Bluegrass Music Association.
Classical concerts include the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performing Mozart’s fiery Symphony #25, rumored to have been written by the 17-year-old Mozart in two days. In addition, we will once again welcome the amazing Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, who will feature Dvorak’s 8th Symphony. And finally, we will once again open the season with the always popular Brass Band of Central Florida Holiday Concert.
Season tickets, which come with a 20% discount off the individual ticket price and priority seating, are now available at www.celebrationfoundation.org/events, or at the Foundation office at 610 Sycamore Street, Suite 110. Individual tickets are also now available to any of the concerts.
