Description

This course is for those who have never played Mah Jongg or have a rudimentary knowledge of the game. Participants will be introduced to the various terms and rules of the National Mah Jongg version and given the opportunity to play the game under the tutelage of the instructor and other experienced Mah Jongg players. Class 1: Overview of the game and introduction to the terms and tiles; Class 2: Review of terms and tiles, set-up, rules, and mock play; Class 3: Practice session. Class size is limited to 16.

Instructor

Barbara Kroon

Barbara has been playing both National Mah Jongg, which will be taught in this class, and the Wright-Patterson version of the game for over ten years. She has taught the Beginner class twice and the Intermediate class once for Celebration Lifelong. Barbara has a BA in American History from the University of Iowa and an MA in American History from Drake University. Barbara has been in human resource management with the State of Iowa, a Western Civilization instructor at Des Moines Area Community College and was a trainer for State of Iowa employees. She is also an author with four published cozy mysteries featuring Mah Jongg.
