The Celebration Foundation Launches New Look
Celebration, FL January 29, 2018: The Celebration Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new look for the organization. The Celebration Foundation’s new logo better reflects its mission of working together to build a strong and caring Central Florida community. The image of the tree represents collaboration and a community working together to build better lives.
Many people in Celebration and Osceola County have heard about the Celebration Foundation, but don’t really know what the Foundation does. While the Foundation is more than 20 years old…created by Disney in 1996, it is six years young in many of its programs.
The Celebration Foundation was honored to work with Kathy Van Tassell, Celebration resident and Founder of Onboard Oxygen, who guided the Board through the rebranding. “The Celebration Foundation identifies needs, convenes talented people and they TAKE Action.” said Van Tassell, “Get to know them…I think you will be proud of how they impact lives in Celebration and Osceola County.”
Did you know…since 2012, The Foundation has helped to provide weekend food to over 1,000 Osceola elementary school children with hunger issues every week during the school year?
Did you know…when the Foundation learned that Osceola County had one of the lowest college going rates in the state, it started Campus Express in 2012 and has taken over 5,600 Osceola students on tours of Valencia College and Osceola Technical College. The campus tours change student perception of post-secondary education and have impacted graduation and college enrollment rates.
Did you know…the Foundation started Thriving in Place to help Celebration neighbors stay in their own homes as they get older or manage a disability. It provides volunteer based services such as medical transport for doctor’s visits and social engagement opportunities.
Did you know…the New Urbanism Committee features a speaker every year to explain the unique qualities of a New Urbanist community. Key members of the Disney team, that created Celebration, have returned to the community to speak including Charles Adams, Tom Lewis, Joe Barnes, Peter Rummell and Michael Eisner.
Did you know…the Foundation launched WINGS (Women’s Initiative to Nurture Girls’ Strength) to inspire young women to honor the strength of women, learn leadership skills and achieve their dreams.
Did you know…the Concert Series is in its 16th year and has featured local performers such as Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Florida Symphony Youth orchestra and the Brass Band of Central Florida along with international talent and/or Grammy award winners Branford Marsalis, Steep Canyon Rangers and the Vienna Boys Choir.
