Celebration Lifelong wrapped up the Fall 2018 Term of courses on November 15. Thanks go out to the Lifelong Volunteers who ensured the smooth operations of this successful lifelong learning program as Instructors, Tech Team Support, and Welcome Desk greeters. Celebration Lifelong continues to flourish as a community partnership program with the Celebration Foundation and the Celebration Residential Owners Association (CROA). All Courses, the Lifelong Tuesday Lecture Series and Lifelong Clubs meet at Celebration Town Hall which provides a feeling of community synergy. In fact, Lifelong has gained many new members who learned about the program after visiting Town Hall on other business.
This past Term, over 200 members actively participated in 40 courses. A few of the best attended courses included Walt Disney: Master of Dreamers, More California Wine Adventures, Director’s Cut: Harry Potter, and Game of Points – Free Travel, Cash Back and More. Lifelong members had the opportunity to broaden their horizons on topics ranging from technology to the fine & performing arts, health, religion, literature and visual arts & crafts.
In addition to taking courses, Lifelong members enjoyed special presentations as part of the Lifelong Tuesday Lecture Series. Orlando Ballet Director Robert Hill presented their upcoming season and gave great insight into his life and the relevance of ballet in the 21st Century; Jim Schroeder regaled the audience with his experiences as the “political spouse” of Congresswoman Pat Schroeder; and Steve Waring, Executive Director for Celebration, encouraged members to “Cut the Cord” and live without cable.
If you missed it and want to participate, Celebration Lifelong offers two terms per year in the Fall and Spring. This program is open to all adults and is not limited to Celebration residents. Preparations are now underway for the Spring 2019 Term. Courses will commence on Tuesday, February 12 but Lifelong Clubs will continue to meet each month until the Spring term starts. The new catalog will be released in January. More information on Spring Term Registration will be published in the New Year! Until then, check out the website for more information about Celebration Lifelong www.CelebrationLifelong.org.
