Celebration Foundation’s New Urbanism committee will be hosting socially distanced architect-led walking tours and a virtual Community Conversation this Founders’ Day. The walking tours will be in downtown Celebration at 10 a.m. on Founders’ Day, November 14. You will learn about our mixed use, compact and vibrant town center using the planning principles of New Urbanism. Discuss the details of streetscapes and architectural styles, and even learn from experts about the design and management of our public parks and trails.

The tour is only $10, but limited space is available. Guests will split up into smaller groups and are required to wear a face covering. All guests are asked to meet at 690 Celebration Avenue. Visit our website at celebrationfoundation.org/events or call our office at 407-566-1234 to purchase tickets.

Celebration Foundation is hosting a virtual Community Conversation via Zoom this year with Dr. Des Cummings. Des, a Celebration resident, led the AdventHealth planning team that worked with Disney Development to plan health into the town of Celebration. He will be discussing designing healthy communities as it pertains to Celebration and AdventHealth Celebration hospital.

Motivated by the need for healthy communities, Dr. Cummings gave leadership to designing health into communities. Celebration, Florida is a model “Healthstyle” community because health and healing were designed into this town as opposed to added on. This included designing the hospital of the future where both health and healing are available in one location. In short, the goal is to care for the whole person throughout their whole life. Des believes that in the age of digital medicine, the home will become the preferred site of care.

The virtual Community Conversation will be at 6 p.m. on Founders’ Day, November 14. The event is free, but limited space is available. To RSVP, visit our website at celebrationfoundation.org/events or call our office at 407-566-1234. We will email you the Zoom link on the day of the event.
