VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM
Thriving In Place is a community-based membership program under the umbrella of the Celebration Foundation. Our members are Celebration residents who are at least 55 years old, or a person with a disability of any age, who want to stay in their own homes and be able to lead healthy, safe, independent and productive lives. As a Thriving In Place volunteer, you will help provide our members access to a wide range of services as well assistance with other day-to-day needs enabling them to remain connected to their community as they age or manage a disability. Following are some of the ways you, as a volunteer, can help:
Activities Partner
- Attends Thrive events (lunches, activities, classes, etc.) and assists members as needed.
- Greets members and guests and answers questions.
- Assists with set up and clean up after lunches and at the beginning and end of the day.
- Takes part in activities as needed.
Errand Assistant
- Runs errands for our members to Celebration business such as: pharmacy, post office, grocery store etc. during normal business hours.
- Volunteer uses personal transportation for pickup and deliveries.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Handyperson
- Uses knowledge of minor home repairs and/or maintenance to assist our members.
- Volunteer uses personal tools to perform tasks.
Newsletter
- Contributes articles that may be of interest to our members such as: helpful tips, recipes, quotes, etc.
Phone A Friend
- Places friendly calls to members daily or as requested by members or Thriving In Place staff.
- Answers occasional incoming calls for members requesting assistance.
Transportation
- Provides our members with prompt, reliable and courteous rides to and from Thriving In Place events, medical appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. within Celebration during normal business hours.
- Volunteer uses personal transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
VIP Visits
- Visits members regularly to pass on local news, answer questions or simply chat.
